Pharmacy

Prescription medication may be purchased at the Student Health Service Pharmacy, which is licensed by the State of California and adheres to all applicable State codes and regulations. Prescriptions from outside physicians can be filled if the medication is stocked by the Pharmacy. Some non-prescription over-the-counter medications are also available. The cost of items purchased at the Pharmacy is at a reduced rate. Students who purchase the supplemental health insurance or have a private insurance may submit prescription receipts to their insurance for reimbursement. The pharmacy does not accept any insurance plans or submit claims. Students may take prescriptions written by SHS clinicians to outside pharmacies for filling if desired.

The Pharmacy is closed 1 hour for lunch break during the day.  We are located on the first floor (HB 102) of the Health Building, opposite Radiology.

To refill a prescription:

1. Please call in 24 hours in advance to decrease waiting time at pharmacy.
2. If there are valid refills (less than 1 year old) available on the prescription, come by or call the SHS Pharmacy at (408) 924-6115 and request the refill.
3. If there are no refills left on the prescription, call (408) 924-6120 to request a refill from an SHS clincian. If the prescribing clinician is outside the SHS, call their office to request a refill and they can call the SHS Pharmacy at (408) 924-6115 to order it. We do not have a fax machine in the SHS Pharmacy, therefore we cannot accept any faxed orders.

To transfer a prescription to the SHS Pharmacy:

1. If there are refills remaining at the other pharmacy, call (408) 924-6115 or come to the SHS Pharmacy with your prescription label. We will call the other pharmacy for the transfer. Please allow 24 hours for this transaction.
2. If there are no refills left on the prescription, call the prescribing clinician and request they call the refill to the SHS Pharmacy at (408) 924-6115 We do not have a fax machine in the SHS Pharmacy, therefore we cannot accept any faxed orders.
