Dear San José State University  student:

As a student at SJSU, you may have experienced a wide range of emotions, ranging from excitement and joy, to stress, confusion, and anxiety.  Being on an urban, commuter campus can often be challenging.  There are many pressures; so much to do, so many people to meet, and it may often feel like there just isn’t enough time!  This is a very common feeling experienced by many students.  Many things contribute to college being challenging, such as loneliness, relationship difficulties, financial stress, depression, anxiety, substance use, and of course academic pressures.  When these issues result in changes in your school performance, social, and emotional well-being, it may be time to seek help.  Or, perhaps you simply want to vent, or talk to a third party just to get different perspectives.

The good news is that there are many ways to help yourself!  And, the trained staff at Counseling Services is here to help you make the most of your personal and academic life.  Please visit us in Administration Building, Room 201, Monday through Friday, between 9am-4pm for a brief initial consultation with a personal counselor.  Or, call us at 408-924-5910 for more information or to make an appointment with an educational counselor.  We are also available for psychological emergencies M-F 8am-5pm.

Counseling Services is a comprehensive counseling center offering individual, couples, and group counseling services:
